The story
Since December 2012, L'Altévic has been a destination for modern cuisine in the village of Hattstatt, just a short drive from Colmar. At the helm is chef Jean-Christophe Perrin, who previously led the kitchen at the celebrated caveau in Eguisheim. His cooking is described as pétillante et différente – sparkling and different – a reflection of flavours gathered from his travels around the world.
The Michelin guide has recognised L'Altévic with its "Recommended" distinction, noting the chef's ability to deliver gastronomic depth without pretension. The setting is a contemporary loft: a space of raw concrete, sycamore, and solid oak, bathed in natural light through full-height windows. It feels both refined and relaxed, in keeping with the chef's own jovial, welcoming approach.
Perrin changes his carte with the seasons, a sign of his commitment to freshness and surprise. The menu offers several paths to suit different moods and appetites: a quick 60/60 lunch formula (entrée, plat, dessert, water, and coffee in 60 minutes for two people, served Thursday through Saturday midday), the hearty Menu Cochonnailles, a more classic Balade gourmande, and the chef's Menu Découverte – a tasting menu available in four or six services. A dynamic à l'ardoise board changes regularly, often featuring dishes meant to be shared.
L'Altévic’s modern cuisine is built on precision and pleasure, not on gimmicks. The kitchen respects produce while drawing on global influences, always with a sense of lightness. Whether you come for a swift lunch or a leisurely evening, the atmosphere remains the same: genuine, unpretentious, and driven by a clear love for the craft.
