The story
In the heart of Coutances, Kalamansi is a small restaurant built on simplicity and conviviality. Manuella looks after the dining room, while Frédéric works alone in the kitchen. The pair keep the experience personal and direct, letting the food speak for itself.
The cooking is modern French, rooted in Normandy’s terroir but with flavours drawn from the couple’s travels and desires. It is bistronomie in the best sense: refined technique without pretension, seasonal produce without fuss.
Kalamansi offers three menus, all designed to let the ingredients lead. The Menu du Marché (€25 for three courses, €21 for two) is served weekday lunchtimes only. The Menu Kalamansi (€43) gives a choice of two starters, two mains, and either a plate of AOP cheese from affineur Maison Hautbois or two desserts. For diners who want to settle in, the Menu Calamandin (€59) is a four-course tasting menu built around the season and the market – the whole table must take it, and if you book it for a weekday lunch, you need to mention it at the time of reservation.
Kalamansi’s steady, honest cooking earned it a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide in 2026, an award for good quality and good value. The restaurant is also a Maître Restaurateur, a French label that guarantees a commitment to homemade, from-scratch cuisine. It is a place where two people, a small kitchen, and a deep respect for the region’s produce add up to something quietly memorable.
