The story
In the wine village of Gevrey-Chambertin, just south of Dijon, Bistrot Lucien brings a modern, honest take on Burgundian cooking. Chef Thomas Collomb and his partner Lucie run the kitchen with a clear conviction: work with local producers who share their respect for nature. The result is a menu that changes every fortnight, built around seasonal market ingredients and the traditions of the terroir.
This approach earned the restaurant a Michelin Bib Gourmand – a recognition for good quality, good value cooking. It’s a fitting nod to a place where the team’s passion for “fait maison” and conviviality is evident in every detail.
The dishes at Bistrot Lucien are rooted in the region yet feel fresh and unfussy. On the current carte, you’ll find a warm pâté chaud of foie gras and duck with apple confit and fresh juniper; lentils from the Cérès farm with beef shank in a hazelnut-oil broth; and a farmhouse pork rack from Auvergne, served with a gratin of macaroni and Salers cheese, topped with garden watercress.
For dessert, the classics of French pastry are given their due: profiteroles, crème brûlée, tarte Tatin. Every plate reflects the kitchen’s insistence on simplicity and depth of flavour.
True to its address on the route des Grands Crus, Bistrot Lucien offers a thoughtful wine list. The spotlight falls on Gevrey Premier Cru “Les Corbeaux”, vinified by the estates Trapet and Rossignol-Trapet – a direct link to the vineyards that surround the restaurant. The bar à vin and cave Chambertin complete the experience, making this a natural stop for anyone exploring Burgundy’s wine country.
