Since 2009, La Croix Blanche has anchored itself in the heart of Donnemarie-Dontilly, occupying a building that began life as a 19th-century inn and posting house. Today, it holds a Michelin Recommended distinction – a recognition the team credits to consistency, precision, and a genuine passion for what they do. The restaurant describes its approach as “une cuisine sincère”: honest, wholly homemade, and driven by the seasons.

A chef from the region leads the kitchen, placing fresh, seasonal produce at the centre of every plate. The menu changes regularly, reflecting what is available and what inspires. Current offerings include a homemade foie gras terrine, a citrus-scented fish ceviche with crunchy vegetables, and a duo of asparagus with herbs, pine nuts, and a lace tuile. Mains range from French beef filet with melting potatoes and peppercorn jus to a lamb saddle with aubergine caviar, and a pork chop from MOF butcher Mickaël Chabanon, sautéed with spring vegetables. Desserts such as vanilla with a molten raspberry heart or a lemon biscuit with almonds, pistachios, and meringue round out the meal.

Several set menus allow guests to tailor their experience. The lunch menu (weekdays only) starts at €33 for a main with coffee and small sweets, while the full dégustation menu at €78 includes an entrée, fish, a sorbet pause, meat, cheese, and dessert. A children’s menu is also available.

The atmosphere is both refined and relaxed – the restaurant calls it “exigeante et détendue”. A sunlit terrace opens in good weather, and a private room can be booked for family events or special occasions (by appointment only, following a physical meeting to tailor the proposal). Reservations are taken exclusively by phone, reflecting a personal, unhurried approach to hospitality.
