The story
At the edge of the small village of Eyragues, between the Alpilles and the Luberon, Le Pré Gourmand occupies what was once the sheepfold of Christine Léonce’s great-grandparents. In 2007, Christine and her husband, chef Patrick Léonce, transformed the building into a “champêtre-chic” restaurant – deliberately outside trends and influences. The result is a place defined by serenity and understated elegance, with a large terrace opening onto a bucolic garden.
Patrick Léonce’s cooking is described on the restaurant’s own site as “la grande cuisine” – a refined, evolving modern cuisine that follows the rhythm of the seasons. Guests consistently praise dishes that are “exceptionnels,” calling the experience “a true voyage between land and sea.” The Michelin guide has recognised this quality with a Recommended rating, placing Le Pré Gourmand among the noteworthy tables of the region.
The dining room and terrace are contemporary in design, with clean lines and a calm palette that lets the surrounding nature take centre stage. The property includes a landscaped, tree-filled garden and a salt-treated outdoor pool reserved for overnight guests. Four individually decorated guest rooms, each with a private terrace, allow visitors to extend their stay in what regulars describe as “a haven of peace.”
Returning visitors highlight the warmth of the welcome and the meticulous service. One guest wrote: “Everything is perfect – exquisite dishes, excellent wines, attentive service. You can feel the love of the craft and the respect for the client.” Another, after a third stay, called it “an address to keep preciously.” These repeated visits speak to the consistency of the experience, where modern cuisine and Provençal hospitality meet without pretence.
