The story

La Petite Chartreuse: Modern Cuisine in Grenoble – Michelin Recommended 2026

A Place of Conviviality

La Petite Chartreuse was born from the idea of creating a warm, welcoming spot centered on thoughtfully prepared, high-quality ingredients. Situated in La Tronche, just a stone’s throw from Grenoble, the restaurant reflects the owners’ deep attachment to the region and its mountains. Here, the cuisine is generous, built on simple French products, and the wine list features bottles from local vineyards as well as other French regions.

The Team Behind the Kitchen

Chef Joan Bois, born in Pontcharra and trained at the Grenoble hotel school, brings his passion for cooking and travel to every plate. In the dining room, Aurélie Josserand, a native of Manigod and graduate of the Thonon-les-Bains hotel school, ensures the service is as warm and attentive as the food. Together, they have created a place that earned a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026, a recognition of their commitment to honest, flavorful modern cuisine.

Seasonal Menus and Standout Dishes

The menu changes with the seasons and market arrivals. For a set price, guests can choose from a selection of starters, mains, and desserts. Among the starters, the leek confit marbled with nori, served with a light dill and lemon cream, black garlic condiment, and lemon pearls, is a delicate opener. The scallop carpaccio, with crunchy vegetables, hazelnut oil, and citrus condiment, is another favorite.

Mains include a pan-seared guinea fowl breast with pressed garlic potatoes and marjoram jus, or oven-roasted cod with a crozets risotto, celery brown butter espuma, and langoustine bisque. Desserts range from a passion fruit tartlet with white chocolate and lime to a soft hazelnut sponge cake with vanilla-poached pears and praline mousse. A kid’s menu is also available, offering smaller portions of the same dishes. The restaurant is open for dinner Wednesday through Saturday, and for lunch on Sunday.
