The story
At the crossroads of the Vercors, Belledonne, and Chartreuse mountain ranges, in the heart of the Uriage-les-Bains park, Maison Aribert offers a dining experience intimately tied to its alpine surroundings. Chef Christophe Aribert, a double Michelin-starred chef with a green star and four toques from Gault & Millau, has created a restaurant that reflects his deep connection to the Isère region.
“I am attached to the Vercors,” Chef Aribert says, “with a great-grandfather who was a market gardener, a grandfather who was a baker, a father who was a cook and hotelier. A child of the region, I grew up among the firs, the forest, and the mountains of Isère.” This heritage is the foundation of his modern cuisine, which is built on total respect for seasons, local products, and the people who produce them.
The restaurant is designed as an extension of the chef’s singular universe, inviting guests to feel a direct connection with the surrounding nature. The philosophy extends beyond the plate: a permaculture vegetable garden grows on the roof of the gastronomic restaurant, already supplying the kitchen with aromatics and vegetables, tended by the brigade itself. This commitment to eco-responsibility is woven into every aspect of the house, from supporting local artisans to working with partners like Fermes d’avenir to aid the agricultural transition.
Maison Aribert is more than a restaurant—it’s a holistic destination. Guests can also experience Le Café A, a revisited village café on the ground floor, or stay overnight in one of two guesthouses, each with five rooms that blend vintage, design, and contemporary furniture. The hotel has been awarded a Michelin Key for its singular experience.
The recognition from the Michelin guide underscores the precision and sincerity of Chef Aribert’s work. Here, modern cuisine is not a theory but a practice: cooking that allies pleasure, aesthetics, and well-being, using medicinal plants and the virtues of vegetables to create dishes that are both nourishing and deeply rooted in the alpine landscape.
