The story
Just five minutes from Obernai, Rosheim and Molsheim, and twenty from Strasbourg and Barr, the Auberge de la Chèvrerie occupies a quiet spot in the Alsatian village of Griesheim-près-Molsheim. The restaurant offers an outdoor terrace alongside a new, cosy dining room, both air-conditioned during warmer months. Parking and wheelchair access are available.
In 2000, Yann and Cynthia Eber took over the family restaurant. Yann, an epicurean and gourmand, describes himself as someone who loves good food and life. The couple has steadily evolved the place, earning the title of Maître Restaurateur in 2012. Their approach is straightforward: cuisine that is entirely made on site, based on fresh, seasonal produce carefully selected for quality and origin. The product is the star.
The menu changes with the season, the market, and the inspiration of the chef and his team. The Menu du Marché (38€) offers three acts, available at lunch from Wednesday to Friday. The Menu des 3 Cabris (60€) presents an entrée, a main, and a dessert. For a longer tasting, the Menu Bonne Auberge (80€) unfolds in five acts: entrée, fish, meat, and two desserts. The Menu Ferme en Folie (110€) is a seven-act feast that must be ordered for the whole table before 12:45 or 19:45. Ingredients like goat cheese, scallops, root vegetables, sandre (pike-perch), beef fillet, truffle, and exotic fruits appear regularly, reflecting the kitchen’s commitment to product-driven modern cuisine.
The restaurant’s consistent quality has earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction, a natural fit for a place where the cooking is both rooted in terroir and attentive to contemporary tastes. A selection of press mentions, including articles in the local daily DNA, note the refinement and the “cuisine du produit.”
