The story
At the edge of the Pays Bigouden, facing the beach of La Joie, Sterenn is a place where the ocean sets the tone. The restaurant’s large bay windows and terrace overlook the port of Saint-Guénolé and the Eckmühl lighthouse – a front-row seat to the comings and goings of fishing boats. Inside, the light-filled dining room is calm and refined, a setting that lets the sea do the talking.
The kitchen is led by chef Johan Marchand, whose cooking is described as “cuisine de fraîcheur, haute en saveurs et en couleurs”. He celebrates the bounty of Brittany with a focus on seafood – the natural cuisine of this coast. Dishes are built around the day’s catch, prepared simply to let the quality of the ingredients shine. The Michelin guide has recognised this approach, awarding Sterenn a Recommended status in 2026, a nod to its consistent, honest cooking.
Sterenn is also a three-star hotel, offering modern, light-filled rooms that look out over the ocean. The same quiet, seaside atmosphere carries through from the restaurant to the guest rooms. With direct access to the beach and the coastal hiking path, it’s a place designed for slow, sensory stays – where the sound of the waves and the taste of the sea are never far away.
