The story
Across from the Hagondange train station, in a building of pale white stone, Quai des Saveurs is the domain of Chef Frédéric Sandrini and his wife Alexandra. Sandrini, a Maître Cuisinier de France since 2011, describes his cooking as a cuisine of instinct and mood — driven by simple pleasures and sincere flavours. The Michelin star he holds recognises the quality of that approach: modern cuisine that is both creative and grounded in the Moselle terroir.
The dining room matches the chef’s philosophy: warm, contemporary, unfussy. Bamboo flooring, soft lighting, an aquarium, and carefully set tables create a convivial atmosphere. The Sandrinis welcome guests into this space with the same authenticity that defines the food.
Sandrini’s inspiration comes directly from the region. He holds the “Qualité Mosl” certification, a mark of his commitment to local producers. Fruits, vegetables, and meats come from a network of trusted suppliers; fish is sourced from reliable fishmongers on the Breton and Norman coasts. Seasonal changes dictate the menu, and the chef’s wife cultivates flowers and aromatic herbs in the restaurant’s own vegetable garden.
The menu is a surprise — a “voyage” in three, five, seven, or nine services, priced from €55 to €165 per person. The carte changes with the seasons and market arrivals. Alexandra Sandrini, a wine enthusiast, and sommelier Thomas have built a wine list of nearly 900 references, with a focus on independent vignerons and Champagne from the neighbouring region. The cheese trolley, also curated by Alexandra, features around forty selections from local and national producers.
For those who appreciate modern cuisine that honours its roots, Quai des Saveurs offers a sincere, unpretentious experience in the heart of Lorraine.
