The story
On Place Hamelin, in the historic heart of Honfleur, Entre Terre et Mer occupies an 18th-century house with a notable past: it was the birthplace of the Counters Admiral J.F.E Hamelin, who served under Napoleon Bonaparte. The restaurant’s name – “Between Land and Sea” – signals both its location and its culinary philosophy.
The restaurant, recognized with a Michelin recommendation in 2026, offers a modern cuisine that is rooted in Norman authenticity and committed to sustainable fishing and waste reduction. Menus change with the seasons, with a recent “Menu Découverte” at €39 featuring three courses such as an asparagus velouté with a perfect egg and haddock, followed by fish with gnocchi and spinach or roast poultry with artichokes. The “Menu Plaisir” at €55 expands to four services, showcasing dishes like monkfish cooked at 55° with a lobster reduction, or a yellow pollock in a bread crust. For a full experience, the six-service “Menu Entre Terre et Mer” at €75 begins with a tartare of Veules-les-Roses oysters with caviar and grapefruit and includes langoustine, foie gras, and beef with morel jus.
The setting is equally considered. Two neo-rustic dining rooms feature exposed beams and stone, with one room paneled in period church woodwork, able to host up to 35 guests for private events. When the weather allows, a sunny terrace opens onto the square, offering a calm spot to enjoy old Honfleur’s charms. An interesting wine list completes the experience.
