The story
Since taking over the restaurant in 2002, Chef Nicolas Tougard has built L'Éden on a simple credo: your satisfaction. The result is a house defined by warm hospitality and a kitchen that lets the region speak for itself. The Michelin Bib Gourmand recognizes this commitment to good quality, good value cooking, and the restaurant lives up to that reputation with every plate.
Tougard’s cuisine is described as "gourmande et authentique" – generous and sincere. He sources fresh, French, and authentic products from local suppliers who share his respect for the environment and the ingredient. This philosophy is the backbone of the modern cuisine on offer. The menus change with the seasons, but always shine a light on Normandy. On the market menu, you might find a filet of rascasse with green lentils from the region, while the more extensive 54-euro menu features a duo of turbot and half a blue lobster.
The atmosphere is simple and convivial. Whether you choose the market formula (a well-priced entry, main, and dessert) or the full tasting experience, the focus is on sharing a moment. Standout dishes from the à la carte include a cœur de ris de Veau au vin jaune with tender carrots and a filet de bœuf race Normande with foie gras. Desserts, like the dôme caramel/abricot or the baba au Grand Marnier, round out the meal with classic French finesse.
L'Éden is open for lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday, with a weekly closure on Monday and Tuesday. The address is 7 rue Henri-Fouchard, Houlgate, 14510.
