The story
Le Petit Nor’Cat is the story of a meeting: Théo, a Norman, and Fanny, a Catalan, both passionate about cooking. Their restaurant in La Haye-du-Puits brings together two distinct culinary worlds. The name itself—Nor’Cat—announces this union of Normandy and Catalonia. It’s a partnership that extends from the kitchen to the dining room: Théo prepares each dish with care, while Fanny serves with elegance and a smile.
The cuisine is described as “colorful and luminous,” built on the idea that “when rain meets the sun, a rainbow forms.” The kitchen works with terroir products—fish from the English Channel, locally raised meats, and produce from the garden. Ingredients are fresh, seasonal, and local, and the menu changes twice a day to reflect what’s best at market. A “Surprise” menu (entrée, plat, dessert) lets diners trust the chef’s instincts entirely.
The Catalan influence is clear. The wine list is dedicated exclusively to Roussillon appellations, with a focus on Collioure. Dishes such as Lotte & Chorizo (monkfish and chorizo) and Pipetas de Canard (duck confit) speak to this cross-cultural approach. Starters like Crabe vert & Foie Gras (green crab and foie gras) and Coques Calva'Ail Noir (clams with Calvados and black garlic) show a kitchen that plays with contrasting flavors with confidence.
The restaurant is a Bib Gourmand selection in the Michelin Guide 2025, recognized for good quality, good value cooking. It’s a fitting award for a place that sources from a network of nearby producers: butcher Martinel across the street, duck from La Fraserie in Bricquebec, bread from Maison Ganivet in town, vegetables from Thierry & Patricia in Senoville. This is cooking rooted in place, with a Mediterranean accent.
The atmosphere is described as “cosy”—ideal for a glass of wine and a homemade meal. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday, and lunch only on Wednesday and Sunday (closed Monday). With wheelchair access, a bar, and a wine pairing option, it welcomes a range of occasions. The result is a small restaurant in the Cotentin that feels both grounded and surprising—a true meeting of two worlds on a single plate.
