The story

La Pierrevue: Modern Cuisine in La Rochelle, France – Michelin Recommended

A former farmhouse, revisited

Since April 2012, Cécile and Renaud have turned an old farmhouse in Saint-Rogatien into a welcoming restaurant. They named it La Pierrevue, and the space reflects their vision: a ground-floor dining room that looks onto the garden, a glass-walled wine cellar, and a bar. Upstairs, two mezzanines—one that adapts to group sizes, the other more intimate—offer different moods. In warmer months, the shaded terrace becomes a bucolic haven with a fountain and a view of the kitchen’s herb garden and vegetable patch.

Chef Cécile’s cuisine

Cécile leads the kitchen with a Modern Cuisine approach rooted in the market. The menu changes with the seasons, built on fresh produce from short supply chains and French producers. The dishes are inventive and carefully composed, letting ingredients speak. The Michelin guide describes it simply: “Quality of products and the chef’s skill: a good meal, plain and simple.” That recognition—Michelin Recommended—underscores the consistency and clarity of the cooking.

Renaud’s spirit

Renaud curates the wine list with equal care, selecting prestigious crus alongside bottles from small growers. The cellar, entirely visible through glass, holds a well-chosen range. He also takes pride in an extensive digestif selection, especially a deep collection of Chartreuse, a personal passion. Together, Cécile and Renaud aim for a convivial atmosphere where the focus stays on good food, good wine, and genuine hospitality—an art of living they champion.

An evolving philosophy

La Pierrevue’s menu offers several formats—market inspiration, full-season menus, a “Menu Plaisir,” and themed dinners. The desserts are a chapter of their own. Throughout, the commitment to Modern Cuisine remains steady: precise technique, respect for the product, and a sense of place. The restaurant also accommodates private events and provides wheelchair access.

In Saint-Rogatien, just outside La Rochelle, La Pierrevue delivers a restaurant experience that is both inventive and grounded—a place where a converted farmhouse and a couple’s dedication come together in every plate.
