The story
On the pretty church square of Fursac, in the Creuse department of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the Nougier family has been welcoming guests for three generations. Chef Stéphane Nougier, who grew up in the kitchen alongside his father and grandfather, now runs this Logis hotel-restaurant with a personal warmth that feels like a visit to a friend’s home.
His cooking is inventive and generous, shaped by years of travel that bring subtle exotic notes to the rich, local terroir of Limousin. The result is a modern, colorful cuisine that the Michelin guide has recognized with a Bib Gourmand every year since 2007 – a mark of exceptional value. The Logis organization has also named it a Table Distinguée since 2015.
Stéphane Nougier trained at the Chamalières hotel school and then worked in prestigious houses, including the kitchens of Paul Bocuse. Today, he is a member of both the Toques Blanches du Limousin and the Collège Culinaire de France. He describes his food as an unfinished canvas – always evolving, always aiming to surprise. The menu balances revisited classics with carefully seasoned, inventive dishes that celebrate local produce.
The restaurant offers a bright dining room and a leafy terrace for warmer days, with a heated outdoor pool on the property. It’s an ideal stop for travelers on the A20 between Guéret and Limoges or from Bessines-sur-Gartempe, offering an unexpected moment of calm and fine dining in the countryside. The service is attentive and unhurried, and the atmosphere is one of understated, familial comfort.
