The story
Set between vineyards and forest, La Chapelle de Guiraud occupies the lovingly restored former chapel of Château Guiraud, a 1er Grand Cru Classé in 1855. It is the first restaurant ever to open within such a historic Bordeaux estate, a testament to the domaine’s commitment to sharing its terroir through the art of the table. The space blends a restaurant, bar, and private salons, with an open kitchen visible from the bar area, creating a lively yet relaxed atmosphere. In warmer months, the terrace offers sweeping views of the château and the surrounding rows of vines.
The kitchen draws on local and seasonal ingredients, including harvests from the domaine’s organic vegetable garden. French classics are revisited with subtlety, in a contemporary and accessible style. The result is a bistronomic cuisine that tells a story of the land, freshness, and environmental respect. Whether seated at a table for two, on a sofa, or around a large shared table, guests experience a cuisine that is both grounded and generous.
The wine list naturally highlights the cuvées of Château Guiraud, a pioneer of organic viticulture among the Grands Crus Classés, alongside selections from other properties in the Terres de Natures label. Each wine is chosen to accompany the dishes with precision, offering a complete sensory journey through the Sauternes vineyard.
Beyond the meal, guests can opt for “L’Immersion,” pairing lunch with a 1.5-hour guided tour of the estate, “L’Odyssée de Guiraud,” which covers the domaine’s history, environmental commitments, and a tasting of four wines. The restaurant also offers seasonal menus, such as the Easter lunch in 3 or 4 courses, and private dining in two salons or through full buyouts. Recognized by Michelin, La Chapelle de Guiraud is a place where the essence of the Grand Cru estate is expressed through every plate and every glass.
