The story
Set in the village of Sauternes, Le Cercle Guiraud is a Michelin-starred restaurant that looks out over the vines and the silhouette of Château Guiraud. The restaurant describes itself as a place of conviviality and sharing, where the cuisine is “décomplexée” – unpretentious, elegant, and inspired by the terroir of Sauternes and the Sud Gironde.
The atmosphere is that of a modern country inn: the dining room features a checkerboard floor, while a large summer terrace shaded by mulberry trees invites you to linger. The hospitality is warm and personal; the restaurant’s own words call it “an invitation to share a unique experience.” Whether you settle inside or out, the setting balances elegance with a relaxed, welcoming feel.
Chef Yoann Amado leads the kitchen with a style that is both fresh and playful. He draws freely on local products from the Sud Gironde, interpreting them with modern technique. The result is a cuisine that is gourmand without being heavy, and refined without stiffness. The menu changes with the seasons, always rooted in the best of the region.
The wine list is curated by Meilleur Ouvrier de France sommelier Denis Verneau. It showcases the diversity of Sauternais and Bordeaux, alongside selections from further afield. The list is described as “full of character” and offered at friendly prices, making it easy to find the perfect pairing for each dish.
Le Cercle Guiraud is part of the Terres de Natures label, reflecting a commitment to virtuous living – for both people and the planet. The restaurant prioritises local producers, small artisans, and sustainable practices, ensuring that every meal is as responsible as it is delicious.
