The story
Since April 2005, L'Araignée Gourmande has occupied a modest space in the centre of Laragne-Montéglin, just steps from the tourist office. With only seven tables and about twenty seats, the contemporary dining room is intimate—designed for genuine hospitality. The team, led by Thierry and Mickaelle, has built a reputation on straightforward, flavour-driven cooking that reflects the rhythms of the local market.
The kitchen works from a foundation of tradition, but the approach is anything but rigid. "Every dish is deliciously prepared," the restaurant notes, and the focus is on fresh, local ingredients: herbs from the region, produce from nearby farms, and honest technique. The result is a French cuisine that is both sincere and seasonal—no gimmicks, no unnecessary flourishes. Menus change regularly based on what is available, with offerings such as the lunch menu (€25 midweek, excluding weekends and holidays) and two tasting menus at €42 and €58. Ephemeral "gourmet suggestions" appear as inspiration strikes.
Year after year, L'Araignée Gourmande has earned its place in the Michelin guide with a Bib Gourmand—an award for good quality, good value cooking. The restaurant also holds a 13/20 rating from Gault & Millau. These distinctions reflect a kitchen that delivers real taste without pretension, and guests return for that consistency and warmth. Whether it's the polenta with citrus powder, the confit pork belly with roasted potatoes, or a dessert built around local apricots, the message is clear: the product speaks for itself.
