Celebrated table
The story
QG de la Mer stands in Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré, delivering a grounded style of French oyster cuisine. Oyster grower Didier Fournier established this second base after launching Ré Ostréa just a kilometer away. The site earned a place on the 2026 Le Fooding roster for maintaining such close ties between harvest and service. Guests watch the morning harvest while seated at sturdy wooden tables.
The outdoor area faces the Pertuis Breton channel without unnecessary decoration. Brightly painted high chairs sit beneath woven Polynesian-style parasols that catch the afternoon light. This setup favors relaxed coastal cuisine over formal table settings. The open layout lets visitors hear the tide and smell the salt air between courses.
A simple blackboard lists grade two through four oysters pulled straight from adjacent beds. Diners can order individual portions or build a mixed plate featuring pink shrimp, firm whelks, and spiny tourteau crab. Langoustine rounds out the broader menu, reflecting their dedication to local cuisine. Every meal typically finishes with a café gourmand pairing clafoutis, financier cakes, and coconut rochers.
