The story
Perched at the extreme tip of Brittany, the Hostellerie de la Pointe Saint-Mathieu in Le Conquet is a place where the land meets the sea. This 4-star hotel, overlooking the historic lighthouse and the ruins of a medieval abbey, has been a family affair since 1954. It began when Francine and Emile Corre bought the 14th-century house to run a restaurant, tabac, and grocery store. Their son Philippe and his wife Brigitte later expanded the business, adding hotel rooms and a spa.
Today, the third generation is at the helm. Since 2018, siblings Nolwenn and Tanguy Corre have carried the family torch, bringing fresh energy while honoring the traditions that have drawn guests here for decades.
In 2019, the restaurant’s gastronomic kitchen earned a Michelin star, a recognition that Nolwenn Corre has maintained with a cuisine that is both fine and audacious. She skillfully reinterprets the house classics, adding her own contemporary signature to showcase the best products of Brittany. The dining room itself sets the stage: ancient vaulted stone ceilings are paired with sleek, modern furniture, creating a refined atmosphere that feels timeless.
Alongside the starred restaurant, the Bistrot 1954 offers a more relaxed take on Breton flavours. Here, diners enjoy traditional recipes—fish of the moment, oysters from Prat Ar Coum, and carefully selected meats—all with a direct view of the lighthouse and the sea.
Beyond the table, the Hostellerie is a destination in itself. Guests can retreat to a Nuxe spa with a heated indoor pool, sauna, and jacuzzi, or simply take in the dramatic coastal light that has inspired poets. The property also offers a range of comfortable rooms and suites, many with views of the lighthouse or the Iroise Sea. At the Hostellerie de la Pointe Saint-Mathieu, the spirit of the house—warm, passionate, and deeply rooted in its place—remains the guiding principle.
