The story
For more than fifteen years, Confins des Sens has been a fixture in Le Grand-Bornand, born from a deep passion for hospitality. The team describes their food as une cuisine créative, généreuse et gourmande – creative, generous, and indulgent. This modern cuisine draws on seasonal ingredients and precise technique, earning the restaurant a Michelin recommendation.
The restaurant’s approach is evident in a recent Mother’s Day menu (76€), which showcases the kitchen’s range. A panna cotta of fennel with crunchy brunoise, confit tomatoes, and a tomato-cherry sorbet opens with freshness. Foie gras from the Sud-Ouest appears cuit au naturel, paired with pea coulis, crunchy fèves, and smoked duck breast. A fillet of vieille (wrasse) is cooked skin-on, served with roasted green asparagus, lardo di Colonnata, and a risotto with dry ham. The beef course features Wagyu rump steak on a marmalade of red onions with Timut berries, a rich oxtail jus, and a pressed potato cake with wild garlic. Cheese lovers will appreciate a trilogy of alpine cheeses with a roasted Manigodine emulsion. Desserts include a tender Ativao 67% chocolate cream with cocoa crumble and yuzu-lime sorbet, or a crunchy tube with strawberry tartare, Mara des bois emulsion, and rhubarb sorbet.
For those wanting a surprise, the “Menu en toute confiance” gift voucher offers six tasting courses (entrée, fish, meat, cheese, and sweets) for one person.
The dining room, as seen in the restaurant’s gallery, is warm and inviting, with a stone fireplace and elegant table settings. Outdoor seating is available in season, and the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Sunday evenings except holidays. Takeaway is also offered for those who prefer to enjoy the meal at home.
Confins des Sens is a place where modern cuisine meets the alpine spirit – a destination for a memorable meal in the heart of the Aravis mountains.
