The story
Since 1879, the Mounier family has run this mountain refuge, evolving from a simple farm into a four-star hotel. Today, Alban and Angélique Mounier continue the tradition, ensuring that every guest feels the warmth of a personal welcome. The chalet’s décor – exposed stone, golden woodwork, warm colours – sets the tone for a stay that is both comfortable and refined.
Le P'tit Polyte is the chalet’s Michelin-starred restaurant, a distinction it has held since 1999. It is the highest Michelin star in the Isère department, perched at 1,650 metres. The kitchen works with seasonal produce, much of it from the surrounding region, to create modern cuisine that honours the flavours of the mountains. In summer, the terrace opens onto the alpine pastures; in winter, the dining room is a cosy haven.
The wine programme is equally impressive. Le Tolkien, the chalet’s bar, boasts over 500 wine references and 5,000 bottles. Sommelier Paolo Siani hosts regular tastings, and the list is designed to pair seamlessly with the menu.
Dining at Le P'tit Polyte is an affair of understated elegance. The service is attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere is one of genuine hospitality. Whether you come for a set lunch or a full dinner, the focus is on quality and simplicity. The restaurant’s recognition by Michelin, along with other accolades such as the Collège Culinaire de France and Table de Prestige, reflects the consistency and passion of the team.
This is modern cuisine at its most sincere – rooted in the Alps, driven by seasonality, and served with the warmth of a family home.
