The story
At La Suite S'il Vous Plaît, chef Mélanie and host Pierre-Yves have created a restaurant that feels both polished and unpretentious. Both honed their craft alongside legends Joël Robuchon and Paul Bocuse, and that lineage shows in the precision of every plate. Yet their vision is distinctly their own: a feminine, modern cuisine that changes with the seasons.
The restaurant calls itself a “bistro sans chichi” – warm, welcoming, and free of fuss. The menu is renewed every three months, offering two gastronomic options and, at lunch only, two bistro menus. The midday Menu Midi at €26 might begin with a velvety lentil soup with smoked lard cream, followed by grilled veal liver with caramelised onion purée, Comté, and hazelnuts. The Menu du Jour at €19.90 offers a simpler three-course formula from Wednesday to Friday.
For those seeking a deeper experience, the Menu Plaisir (€59.90) showcases noble seasonal products: civet of hare with red wine and foie gras, or the chef’s signature ris de veau. The Menu de la Suite (€39.90) is a gourmand journey through the season, with dishes like berlingots of fresh goat cheese in vegetable broth, or mackerel blowtorched with shallots and cognac. Desserts are equally inventive – think macaron of parsnip, pear, and peanut, or a cauliflower-vanilla crème brûlée with caramelised nuts.
This modern cuisine has earned La Suite S'il Vous Plaît a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026 – a recognition that aligns with the kitchen’s commitment to flavour, technique, and sincerity. The dining room, cooled by air conditioning and fully wheelchair accessible, matches the food’s understated confidence.
Above the restaurant, the La Suite Sablaise apartment offers guests a chance to extend their stay, with electric scooters, forest walks, and boat trips to Île de Ré just steps away. But the real draw remains downstairs: a table where Mélanie’s cooking speaks for itself, season after season.
