The story
Since 2021, Le 49R has brought a distinctive approach to fine dining in Lille. Housed in a 17th-century hôtel particulier on rue Royale, the restaurant balances the character of its historic setting with a contemporary, welcoming atmosphere. The dining room pairs royal-blue ceilings with comfortable velvet armchairs, while artworks chosen by co-owner Constance add an elegant, personal touch. At the rear, a secluded garden terrace offers a peaceful escape from the city during sunny lunches and evening dinners.
The kitchen is led by Chef Antoine Coutier, whose cooking is described as intuitive and travel-inspired. His style combines technical precision honed in great houses with a creative freedom that revisits French classics with subtlety and audacity. The result is a modern cuisine that is both refined and generous—clean flavours, precise cooking, and balanced seasoning are the hallmarks.
A bar area, with a marble counter and deep-blue ceiling, serves signature cocktails and a well-chosen selection of wines by the glass, curated by sommelier Alexandre. The restaurant also offers private salons and event spaces, adaptable for business dinners, receptions, and celebrations.
Le 49R’s recognition by the Michelin Guide as a Recommended restaurant reflects its commitment to a seamless, natural hospitality—an experience that begins with a warm welcome and continues through every course. Whether in the main dining room, the bar, or the garden, the team cultivates the art of receiving with discretion, in the spirit of a family home.
