The story
Solehl Bistro in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue presents a modern take on French bistro cooking from the hands of Patrick Fischnaller and Romain Gandolphe. These two chefs previously ran the starred restaurant Le Vivier before launching this project to offer a more relaxed dining experience. Their kitchen operates openly so guests can watch the preparation while enjoying tapas-style sharing plates or grilled mains cooked over binchotan charcoal.
The menu highlights fresh local produce with creative presentations like sea bream ceviche served with avocado cream and nectarine. Meat lovers might choose the Montbéliarde steak accompanied by a spicy chocolate mole sauce or order dry-aged Galician prime rib prepared for two people. Desserts feature seasonal elements such as a black fig tart made with fruit harvested directly from the tree on the terrace, finished with walnuts and lime meringue.
Interior designer Pauline Renaud created three distinct areas within the establishment, which sits near the antique quarter along a branch of the Sorgue river. Guests can reserve a table on the shaded terrace, sit at banquette seating in the main hall facing the open kitchen, or retreat to the climate-controlled patio during extreme weather. The decor balances warm materials with contemporary touches to encourage conversation and comfort.
Solelh has earned the Bib Gourmand distinction from the Michelin Guide alongside a listing in Le Fooding for its approachable yet refined cuisine. The wine list focuses on organic and natural cuvées sourced from passionate French producers who prioritize sustainable viticulture. This combination of accessible pricing and quality ingredients reinforces the bistro's reputation as a destination where locals and visitors gather for genuine culinary pleasure.
