The story
Just outside Valence, in the Drôme village of Livron-sur-Drôme, Garenne sits at the foot of the Monts du Brézème. The restored family building, surrounded by vines that have been cultivated for centuries, now houses a hotel‑restaurant and a working vineyard. The setting changes with the seasons: summer brings the scent of hay and garden tomatoes, autumn paints the chestnut tree red, and winter offers fireside warmth. The property’s glass‑roofed dining room floods the space with light, framing views of the Vercors and the Ardèche valley.
Chef Teddy Bidaux leads the kitchen, crafting what the restaurant describes as “sincere and refined” modern cuisine. Working within the Biovallée, a territory dedicated to sustainable agriculture, he builds close relationships with local producers, farmers, fishermen, and artisans. Each dish highlights seasonal ingredients, often finished with flowers and plants from the garden. The result is a living, respectful gastronomy that feels both grounded and inspired.
The Michelin Guide has recognised Garenne with a Recommended status, a nod to the precision and authenticity of Chef Bidaux’s work. The restaurant is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday; Saturday lunch is reserved for private events.
Garenne also offers eight double rooms, two family rooms, and a seven‑bed dormitory, all furnished with Treca bedding and natural materials. A pool, pétanque court, and bike rentals encourage guests to slow down and enjoy the surrounding vineyards and the Drôme countryside. The wine domain produces its own Rhône Valley vintages, and tastings are part of the experience.
Whether for a meal or an overnight stay, Garenne is a calm, character‑filled destination where modern cuisine and a sense of place come together naturally.
