The story
Restaurant du Port sits directly on the small harbour of Locquirec, a Breton seaside town on the English Channel at the edge of Finistère and Côtes-d'Armor. The dining room, opened wide to the view through large windows, lets the rhythm of the tides become part of the meal. In summer, the terrace offers an even closer connection to the water and the coming and going of boats.
The restaurant is part of the Hôtel du Port, which reopened in spring 2017 after a careful, sober renovation. But the kitchen is very much its own destination. Chef Yannick Le Beaudour builds his menu around the best of the region: fish, shellfish and seasonal vegetables are the core of his cooking. The approach is methodical and creative, with plates that evolve as the year turns. From first course to dessert, ingredients are chosen for quality first.
The menu changes regularly, reflecting what is fresh and local. Fish and fruits de mer naturally take the lead, given the restaurant's position on a working port. Vegetables follow the calendar, and the chef's technique gives each element its due. The result is a cuisine that feels grounded in Brittany but never predictable.
This commitment to careful, ingredient-led cooking has earned the restaurant a place in the Michelin guide, where it is listed as Recommended. It is a recognition that rewards consistency and a clear sense of place.
The dining room is comfortable and welcoming, with the same understated style that marks the hotel. Service is attentive without formality. The wine list, available separately, is chosen to complement the kitchen's seasonal offerings. Breakfast is also served, with a choice of viennoiseries, bread, fruit salad and fromage blanc – a light start before a day on the coast or an evening meal by the water.
Restaurant du Port is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays outside the summer season, so booking is wise. Whether you come for lunch or dinner, the view, the seafood and the quiet professionalism of the team make this a memorable stop on the Brittany coast.
