The story
In Lorraine, just south of Lunéville and thirty kilometres from Nancy, the Château d'Adoménil stands as a family-run estate where history and gastronomy meet. This 18th-century château, set within a seven-hectare park, is both a four-star hotel and a restaurant that has earned a Michelin star for its refined Modern Cuisine.
Sophie and Cyril Leclerc are the current hosts, continuing a story that began in 1978 when their parents, Bernadette and Michel Million, fell in love with the property and transformed it into a hotel and restaurant. The family’s approach balances rigour with simplicity, placing attention on each guest. The restaurant is also recognised as a Grand Chef Relais & Châteaux, a distinction that speaks to the quality of the cooking and the warmth of the welcome.
The dining room reflects the character of the château itself: traditional architecture softened by contemporary comfort. The cuisine is described as gastronomic, rooted in the French art de vivre, and driven by the seasons and the region. While the menu changes regularly, the kitchen’s commitment to precision and flavour remains constant. A well-chosen wine list complements the meal, and the restaurant’s setting in a bucolic, tranquil park enhances the experience.
The château also offers fourteen guest rooms and suites, each spacious and individually decorated. Antique references blend with modern amenities, and bathrooms combine marble with colourful tiles. The Alisier room, on the ground floor, features a private terrace and an open-plan bathroom with a round balneotherapy bathtub.
Dinner is served by reservation, and the restaurant is closed Sunday evening, Monday, Tuesday, and for weekday lunches. From October to May, it is also closed on Wednesdays. The estate welcomes private events, catering, and can accommodate a private chef.
For those seeking a serene escape in Lorraine, Château d'Adoménil offers a rare combination of Michelin-starred Modern Cuisine, family hospitality, and the quiet grandeur of an 18th-century château.
