The story

Bulle: Bistronomie with Panoramic Views in Lyon – Michelin Recommended

A restaurant suspended between sky and city

Perched on the Fourvière hill next to the basilica, Bulle is a modern cuisine restaurant that feels like a quiet escape from the city below. Housed in a classified historic monument, its wide windows and thirty-metre terrace look out over all of Lyon – a view that belongs on any visitor’s itinerary. The Michelin guide has recognised this address with a Recommended mention, and for good reason.

From starred kitchen to bistronomie

Bulle is the second table of Guy Lassausaie, Meilleur Ouvrier de France and holder of two Michelin stars at his eponymous restaurant in Chasselay. Here he has partnered with Gaëlle Manin to create a more relaxed but equally precise experience. The day-to-day is led by executive chef Raphaël Courtin, whose career includes stages at La Mère Brazier and Takao Takano (where he helped earn a second star), and his deputy, Pierre Borrel. Together they translate the philosophy of the mother ship into dishes that are refined, inventive, and rooted in local, seasonal produce.

The concept is summed up in the restaurant’s name: Bistronomie Urbaine Locale Légère Ecoresponsable. The menu changes with the seasons – a recent carte features dos de sandre with a crispy quenelle variation, carrot jus, ginger purée and cedrat confit, alongside a line-up of artichoke risotto with scallops, grilled rouget, and a chocolate Guanaja forestière. Three fixed menus (€62, €68, €79) are offered lunch and dinner, seven days a week, plus a weekday market menu at €43.

A warm, open setting

The interior mixes elegance with a come-as-you-are welcome: children and pets are allowed, the atmosphere is convivial, and the service unfussy. Cocktails are served at the bar upstairs, and in fine weather the entire terrace opens for dining al fresco. For private events, a salon privé holds up to 30 guests and the semi-private Salon Bibliothèque seats up to 16.

Bulle is open every day, with the bar running continuously from 10:30 to 21:30. Parking is available on site.
