The story
Perched on the 32nd floor of the iconic Tour Part-Dieu – affectionately known as the “Pencil Tower” – Celest rises 150 metres above Lyon, offering what the restaurant describes as the city’s most beautiful and exceptional view. The setting is a sleek, cosy cocoon, with airy constellation-inspired lighting that echoes the sensation of having one’s head in the stars. By night, as the tower glows orange, diners take in the panorama of the City of Lights from every angle.
The kitchen is led by Benoît Charvet, a Maître Cuisinier de France and Maître Restaurateur who grew up in a family of restaurateurs – his father was a Michelin-starred chef. After training at the prestigious École Ferrandi in Paris, Charvet opened his own restaurant in Nice, then took over the starred Le Comte de Gascogne. His career took him to Los Angeles, New York, Montreal and Dubai, before returning to France to cook at the Hilton Strasbourg and a celebrated Alsatian restaurant housed in an Orient-Express carriage – a kitchen that caught the attention of both the Michelin and Gault&Millau guides. Since 2020, he has overseen the stoves at Celest.
Celest’s approach to modern cuisine is built on fresh, local, seasonal ingredients, prepared with elegance and simplicity. The daily “Menu Ciel et Terre” changes to honour the best of the market, letting each product express its true character. The service is discreet and attentive, designed to let guests fully enjoy the experience.
The restaurant’s excellence has been recognised with a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026, a fitting nod to a dining room that aims high in every sense. Whether for a romantic evening or a special celebration, Celest delivers an unforgettable sensory experience – pure, refined, and suspended above Lyon.
