The story
On rue de Sèze, a short walk from the Parc de la Tête d’Or, Le Jean Moulin brings together tradition and modernity. The restaurant describes its cuisine as “French revisited with precision and refinement,” evoking the flavours of childhood while keeping both feet in the present. Fresh, seasonal produce drives the menu, and each dish is built with careful technique – a hallmark of the bistronomy movement that defines the restaurant’s identity.
At 24, Grégoire Baratier opened his first restaurant in 2011, earning the Chef Espoir prize at the Trophées de la Gastronomie the following year. His training reads like a who’s who of French gastronomy: alongside Paul Bocuse, Mathieu Vianney, Anne-Sophie Pic, Christophe Roure, and Emmanuel Renaut. In 2019, he moved Le Jean Moulin to its current address in the elegant 6th arrondissement, where his cooking continues to win a loyal following.
The interior is contemporary and warm, with tables dressed simply but invitingly. An outdoor terrace offers seating for sunny days. Whether for lunch or dinner, the mood is relaxed yet polished – a place where the quality of the food is matched by the care in service.
Since 2012, the Michelin Guide has awarded Le Jean Moulin its Bib Gourmand, a distinction given for good quality, good value cooking. The award is renewed annually, a testament to the consistency of Baratier’s modern French cuisine and the restaurant’s commitment to accessible fine dining.
