The story
Florent Poulard trained for seven years in some of France’s most celebrated kitchens – Alain Chapel, Guy Savoy, Alain Passard, and Daniel Boulud. In November 2017 he opened his first restaurant in Lyon, on rue Royale, before moving in February 2020 to an emblematic address on Place des Célestins, once home to two-Michelin-starred chef Christian Bourillot. The move marked a new chapter for Monsieur P, now recognized with a Michelin Recommended distinction.
Poulard describes his cooking as gastronomie française, authentique et innovante – a modern cuisine built on respect for the product. He searches for the finest ingredients, imagines them on the plate, and cooks with generosity and precision. The goal is to transport guests into the world of Monsieur P: a love of terroir, of travel, and of conviviality.
The restaurant’s alter ego, “Monsieur P,” is a self-described epicurean and traveller, attached to peasant wisdom and the Atlantic coast. He selects wines with care, favoring biodynamic and emotional bottles. The wine list is a reflection of that passion – interesting, curated, and available by pairing.
Monsieur P offers lunch and dinner in a warm, welcoming setting. The dining room is air-conditioned and wheelchair accessible, and the team can arrange private parties in the Salon Nénuphar upstairs, which accommodates 8 to 32 guests. The service is gastronomic in ambition, but the atmosphere remains convivial – a place where fine modern cuisine feels natural, not stiff.
Whether you come for a business lunch or a leisurely dinner, the kitchen delivers a cuisine that is both rooted in French tradition and open to innovation. The Michelin Recommended badge underscores the consistency and quality that define this Lyon address.
