The story
At 112 boulevard des Belges, Yka bar & ceviche is a pause where the 28 climates and 84 microclimates of Peru coexist in a single address. Born from a collaboration between cevicheros, bartenders, sommeliers, and local partners, the restaurant focuses on the spirit of Pachamama (Mother Earth) and proposes a new way to share: at the table d’hôte, at the counter, alone or with family, with an author cocktail in hand.
YKA describes itself as a “taverne à Cocktails d’auteur” and a ceviche bar where small Peruvian dishes are prepared without thermal cooking. Everything is hecho en casa – made in-house. The cooks are also the artisans who handle every product: sustainable fishing, fish filleted on site, and all fruits and vegetables are organic, even those sourced from Peru. This commitment to quality and freshness earned Yka a Michelin Recommended distinction, a recognition of its honest, ingredient-driven approach.
The menu is short and simple, built around the emblematic Peruvian dish: ceviche. The classic version features white fish (depending on the catch) marinated in lime, rocoto chili, ginger, with sweet potato, toasted cancha corn, red onion, and coriander. The Nikkei ceviche blends Peru with Japan – tuna marinated in chancaca honey, sake, ginger, soy, and sesame, served with dashi, burnt avocado, nori, and edamame. Other small plates include Papa Huancaina (roasted baby potatoes with amarillo chili cream), homemade empanadas, and a street-food burger called Butiffara. Desserts like Tres Leches cake and a Peruvian cacao tart round out the experience.
The bar is equally central. Signature cocktails such as the classic Pisco Sour, the Maracuya Sour, and the Amazonian Kion (with Peruvian ginger and Amazonian gin) showcase Peruvian ingredients. There is also a selection of Latin American beers and organic juices from the Amazon.
YKA is open for dinner Tuesday to Saturday, with a midday CeviBowl option. The space offers air conditioning, outdoor seating, and takeaway. Whether you come for a quick ceviche at the counter or a leisurely evening with cocktails, this is a genuine taste of Peru in the heart of Lyon.
