The story
Ma Table en Ville is a straightforward restaurant and bistro on rue de Strasbourg, in the heart of Mâcon. The dining room is simple and welcoming, with outdoor seating for the warmer months. It’s the kind of place where the focus is on honest cooking and good wine, without unnecessary fuss.
The kitchen turns out classic French dishes rooted in Burgundian tradition. Starters include herring with potatoes, saumon gravlax, and escargots de Bourgogne with garlic butter. The oeufs mayo from the Ferme de Luponnas are a simple pleasure, while the oeufs en meurette are a rich, winey classic. Mains lean toward comfort: andouillette Bobosse with mustard and white wine, a homemade quenelle de brochet with sauce homardine, and tartare de bœuf Charolais. For dessert, the pot de crème chocolat and the aptly named "Dessert de Gilles" are worth saving room for. The 39€ menu – starter, main, and cheese or dessert – offers a well-priced way to taste the range.
The wine list is a deep dive into Burgundy, with whites from Pouilly-Fuissé and Meursault, reds from Volnay and Givry, and a selection of Champagnes and Crémants. You can even take a finished bottle home, a thoughtful touch. The restaurant’s Michelin Recommended status reflects the consistent quality and unpretentious, regional focus.
Open for dinner Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from 18h30 to 22h00. Reservations are advised. Air conditioning, outdoor seating, and takeaway are available.
