The story

Cà Phê Dá Marseille: Vietnamese Kitchen & Street-Side Sandwiches

The founders and the kitchen

Cà Phê Dá delivers a streamlined Vietnamese kitchen in Marseille through the daily collaboration of Anh Dao Nguyen and Emile Duchemin. Nguyen arrived from Livingston where she managed pastry production, while Duchemin contributed his technical background from La Mercerie. Their shared history guides a compact menu that favors precise layering over heavy sauces. Every plate leaves the pass prepared for immediate service on the pavement.

Baguettes and street-side flavors

The sandwich program builds around freshly baked baguettes that crackle under firm pressure before revealing a tender crumb. Nguyen stacks these loaves with savory components designed for rapid assembly during busy lunch hours. Each order pairs easily with a smooth swirl of house ice cream or a tall glass of signature cà phê. The coffee preparation balances deep roasted notes with sweet condensed milk and a floating cap of salted cream.

A sunlit corner near the old port

The storefront layout merges covered seating with an uncovered terrace to recreate a familiar Saigon street vendor environment. Guests rest beneath vintage ceiling fans while reviewing a large format menu printed in bright red ink. The outdoor tables catch direct sunlight long into the afternoon shift. This straightforward setup recently secured a listing in Le Fooding for its dedicated execution of Vietnamese cooking.

Ho Chi Minh City, are you there? With its Saigon-style street-stall vibe (indoor-outdoor storefront, 70s ceiling fan, fire engine red XXL menu, sunbaked terrace), this half-coffee shop, half-sandwich shop from Anh Dao Nguyen and Emile Duchemin brings a little slice of Vietnam to town! While he (ex- La Mercerie pastry chef) mans the register, she (who caught our eye during her time at Livingston ) turns out addictive bánh mì made on baguettes that are crunchy and squishy in all the right places. And because good things always come in threes, the sandwiches are best paired with a swirl of ice cream and specialty cà phê , loaded with condensed milk and salted cream. · Artie Show
