On Marseille’s Corniche Kennedy, Les Bords de Mer occupies a perch that feels suspended between sky and water. The kitchen takes a respectful approach to local products, reworking Marseille’s culinary traditions into a modern cuisine that feels both grounded and fresh. Seafood and Provençal terroir are the anchors: think ceviche philippin with red chilli and pickles, a “retour de pêche” (daily catch) served simply, or seared squid with an emulsion of satay. Meat eaters are not forgotten, with a suprême of poultry seasoned with lemongrass and ginger. Aged cheeses from the hinterland round out the meal. The cooking is generous and sunny, a direct expression of the South.

For lunch, a weekly changing menu reflects the chef’s inspiration and the market’s best arrivals. Dinner extends the experience into the evening, still with that same unfiltered view of the sea.

A Summer Collaboration

In June, the restaurant hosts a special residency by chef Louise Perrone, known from Top Chef and her own restaurant Rouge in Marseille. On Saturdays, the rooftop becomes the setting for Les Déjeuners Bleus – a four-course lunch menu (75 €) that celebrates the sea, the light, and the flavours of the South. The collaboration is exclusive and runs through the month, adding a seasonal layer to the permanent offering.

Michelin Recognition

The restaurant’s consistent quality and its ability to marry location with a refined, market-driven cuisine have earned it a place in the Michelin guide as a Recommended address. It’s a recognition that aligns with the restaurant’s philosophy: a modern cuisine that respects the Mediterranean larder without unnecessary fuss.
