The story
Zinzin operates as a dedicated vegetarian restaurant in Marseille, built on a foundation of sustainable sourcing and local partnerships. Founders Anne-Sophie Baudoin and Alexandra Tikhomiroff combined their experience running Parisian food shops to create this neighborhood destination. Journalist and former L’Idéal cook Alix Hardy supports them in the open kitchenette every day. Their approach treats vegetables as the centerpiece rather than an afterthought on the plate.
The kitchen prepares simple compositions that let raw ingredients shine without complex masking sauces. Diners frequently order the vibrant green shakshuka paired with spiced hummus and a drizzle of chili oil. Hearty portions of polenta blend smoothly with slow-cooked mushroom stew, late-season tomatoes, and shaved Parmesan cheese. Those finishing their meal typically choose a chilled fruit compote over heavier baked goods to maintain a light palate.
A vintage wooden counter anchors the front of the space while checkerboard floor tiles extend toward the back wall. Coffee, matcha, and kombucha flow continuously alongside natural wines poured by staff who also manage shelves stocked with granola and aged cheese. Le Fooding placed Zinzin at the number one spot in its 2026 café and épicerie category for balancing retail inventory with hot meals. The layout encourages lingering as guests browse vegetable crates between bites.
