The story
At the centre of the Cirque de Floirac, a charming tourist village in the Lot region, La Mangeoire is a modern village bistro with a Belle Epoque glass verrière looking onto the main square. The restaurant, recognised with a Michelin Recommended award, delivers a confident take on modern cuisine that is firmly anchored in the local market.
The kitchen works in the “bistronomique” style, meaning refined, thoughtful bistro cooking sourced from the day’s market finds. Seasonal menus change regularly; recent collections have featured dishes such as Variations autour de la tomate cerise, golden courgettes with lemon confit and fresh goat cheese from Chèvrerie des Filles, and a personal take on onion tart with smoked haddock. There is a three-course menu at 50 euros, a six-course tasting menu at 58 euros, and a vegetarian option at 39 euros. In spring and autumn, a Friday lunch formule at 28 euros highlights seafood from the morning catch.
A glass-walled wine cellar downstairs holds a carefully selected list of bottles from France and beyond, reflecting the restaurant’s dual identity as a cave à vin. Upstairs, a private table accommodates 12 to 14 guests for business or private meals.
The setting is casual and bright, with outdoor seating available in warmer weather and air conditioning throughout. Wheelchair access is provided. La Mangeoire proves that modern cuisine in a small village can be both serious and welcoming, anchored by ingredients and a sense of place.
