La Bodega in Melun – Spanish Restaurant with Michelin Recommendation

For more than 25 years, La Bodega has been a fixture on the quays of Melun, a family-run restaurant that brings the flavours of Spain to the heart of Seine-et-Marne. The team’s ambition is simple: to offer the best selection of products, working with local farmers and following the seasons. The result is a kitchen that is both healthy and creative.

The menu is built around Spanish classics, made with care. Start with an assiette ibérique of pata negra bellota charcuterie, or a plate of jamón Serrano aged 17 to 24 months. Small plates like chipirones a la plancha (baby squid with fleur de sel), chorizo frito with onions and rosemary, and patatas bravas with spicy tomato sauce and aioli sit alongside a seasonal vegetable platter from local producers. Larger dishes include bacalao – salt cod cured in-house and served with aïoli and vegetables – and a pluma of pure Iberian bellota pork from free-range, acorn-fed pigs raised in a protected geographical area. The paella Bodega combines chicken, chorizo, squid, mussels and prawns, and is prepared to order for a minimum of two. Desserts range from a vacherin with strawberry and lime sorbet to a chocolate rocher with praline and buckwheat crunch.

The restaurant’s commitment to quality and seasonality has earned it a place in the Michelin Guide, which recognises La Bodega for its reliable, well-executed Spanish cooking. It is a straightforward, welcoming address where the food speaks for itself.
