The story

83 Restaurant Metz – Italian-Mediterranean Cuisine with Michelin Recommendation

An Ode to Italy in the Heart of Metz

At 83 rue Mazelle, the 83 Restaurant is a family affair built on passion and conviviality. Step inside its modern, eclectic interior and you are invited to breathe, settle in, and let the atmosphere take over. The result is a vibrant cocktail of exchange and warmth, orchestrated by a dynamic team.

The Family Behind the Flavours

In the kitchen, Gérome – the uncle – brings the full splendour of Italy to Metz. His love for exceptional ingredients was forged during his time at the Negresco in Nice, where he was seduced by Provençal flavours and learned to blend them masterfully with his own Italian roots. Today, his cuisine is a celebration of rare vegetables, noble fish, refined pasta, and Mediterranean spices. Before asserting his originality at 83, Gérome was instrumental in the success of local institutions Le Petit Diable and Le Sud.

In the dining room, Jerôme and Kathy complete the trio. Jerôme is a wine enthusiast who travels the roads each year to meet producers, hand-selecting precious bottles – Italian and Provençal, mostly – that he loves to share. Kathy brings refinement and an eye for detail, offering discreet, attentive service that perfectly complements the restaurant’s clean, elegant décor.

A Menu Rooted in Quality

The restaurant holds the title of Maître Restaurateur, a guarantee of fresh, homemade cuisine. The evolving blackboard features iconic starters like glazed aubergines with roasted prawns, sublime Culatello di Zibello from the Spigaroli brothers, and a true, creamy burrata. Main courses are equally compelling: the incomparable Cinta Senese pork belly, Limousin beef tagliata, roasted John Dory with violet artichoke barigoule, sage-and-scampi rigatoni, or the chef’s creamy polenta. Sweet endings include a raspberry croustillant with hazelnut mousse, seasonal panna cotta, traditional tiramisu, and a limoncello baba in the Amalfi style.

A Cellar to Explore

The wine list is a journey through Tuscany, Sardinia, and the Abruzzo, with references from small houses and great names selected by the sommelier. Each bottle comes with a story, and the team’s passion for sharing these narratives has even led to the creation of La Cave 83, where you can continue the experience at home.

Two private vaults (40 and 20 covers) are available for events, seminars, and tasting dinners. Reservations are recommended, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant is closed Monday evenings, Saturday lunchtimes, and Sundays.
