The story
Since July 2017, chef Émilien Le Normand and his wife Noémie have run Les Coqs in the heart of Milly-la-Forêt, one of the most beautiful villages in Île-de-France. The name winks at Jean Cocteau, the artist who loved to sketch roosters with a mischievous line. Today, this address has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, confirming its place among the region’s finest tables.
The restaurant seats 36 guests across two dining rooms, a terrace for sunny days, and two intimate salons upstairs. The décor blends the village’s historic character – Fontainebleau sandstone and exposed beams – with contemporary touches: custom chairs, tableware by local artisans (ceramist Edwige Denax and glassblower Frédéric Alary), and original artworks on the walls. A spectacular table made of crushed glass and resin, embedded with plants and butterflies, sits between the two rooms. The atmosphere is both elegant and welcoming, designed entirely by Émilien and Noémie with the help of an interior architect.
Les Coqs celebrates modern French cuisine, built around local produce and the rhythms of the Gâtinais region. The menu changes every three weeks to follow what the land offers. This is a kitchen that respects tradition while staying fresh and inventive – the kind of cooking that earned the restaurant its place in the Michelin guide. Whether for a business lunch, a romantic dinner, or a family gathering, the team adapts to each occasion, and dietary needs are handled with care.
