The story
At the Domaine du Colombier in Malataverne, just outside Montélimar, Le Bistrot 270 offers a more relaxed counterpoint to the estate’s Michelin-starred gastronomic restaurant. Here, Chef Cédric Guillaumin crafts a seasonal, market-driven French cuisine that earned the address a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide — recognition for good quality, good value cooking.
The setting is straightforward and welcoming, with tables overlooking the four-hectare park and the heated outdoor pool. The philosophy is one of generous, accessible bistronomie: dishes that are rooted in the local terroir and driven by what is at its peak.
Le Bistrot 270 is part of a remarkable closed-loop ecosystem. The Domaine du Colombier operates its own permaculture kitchen garden, a 450 m² aromatic herb garden, 30 beehives, and 400 olive trees. The estate’s biodynamic vineyard, Les Amoureuses, supplies the wine list. This circular model means that what arrives on the plate at the Bistrot is often grown, raised, or pressed within a few hundred metres.
The spring 2025 menu, for example, highlighted this connection: a starter of roasted leeks with a hazelnut vinaigrette and lard chips, or a melting organic egg with potato espuma and estate olive oil. Mains might include a piece of pork with a caper and mustard jus, or a filet of fish with braised endives and citrus cream. The house-made focaccia, served with the estate’s own olive oil, is a constant.
The Michelin Bib Gourmand distinction underlines the value proposition: a full menu, including starter, main, and dessert, is available from 39 €. A more elaborate “Menu 270” at 53 € adds a mise en bouche and more refined options, such as a bar filet with cauliflower mousseline or a rosé duck filet with orange-braised turnips.
Le Bistrot 270 is open for lunch Monday through Saturday and for dinner Monday through Saturday, offering a modern French cuisine that is both grounded in the Drôme Provençale and refreshingly direct.
