The story
In 2012, after years of experience in France and abroad, Marion and Ben Franzè opened Le Moderne in Montélimar. Their ambition was simple: to share their passion for cooking, wine, and hospitality in a convivial setting. The couple draws deeply on their Provençal roots, infusing each dish with a sense of place and creativity.
The dining room is an "écrin" – a jewel box – inspired by the 1950s. Clean lines and retro touches create a warm, sophisticated atmosphere. It is a space where every detail, from the decor to the plating, reflects a commitment to authentic, generous cuisine.
Le Moderne describes its style as cuisine bistronomique: a balance between bistro comfort and gastronomic precision. The kitchen prioritises freshness, seasonality, and simplicity, letting ingredients speak. Each plate tells a story of terroir and tradition, reimagined with a modern twist. This approach has earned the restaurant a place among Michelin’s Recommended addresses – a recognition of the consistent quality and refined execution of their Modern Cuisine.
The Franzès’ vision of gastronomy is rooted in pleasure and sharing. The menu changes regularly, reflecting the best of the market and the seasons. Whether for lunch or dinner, guests are invited to experience a cuisine that is at once grounded and inventive. With outdoor seating and wheelchair access, Le Moderne welcomes all who seek a memorable meal in Montélimar.
