The story
At the edge of an enchanting forest in the Loire Valley, at the foot of the Château de Montpoupon, Auberge de Montpoupon offers a warm, family-run take on modern cuisine. Chef Cyril Martins and his wife Floriane, together with their two daughters, run this convivial inn where the values are clear: a welcoming, professional atmosphere in an authentic setting.
Chef Martins’s path to Montpoupon began over a decade ago. He started at the golf de Chantilly in the Oise region before falling in love with the Loire Valley while working alongside chefs Dominique Pépin at Domaine des Hauts de Loire and Christophe Hay at Fleur de Loire in Blois. That shared passion for the region—its products and its gastronomic culture—led Cyril and Floriane to become owners of the Auberge de Montpoupon.
The restaurant’s cuisine is described as cuisine de terroir revisitée—revisited local fare. The monthly menu, created by Chef Martins, balances tradition with discovery and modernity. The couple is committed to local sourcing and fresh ingredients, ensuring the dishes reflect the Tourangelle gastronomy they love. Whether it’s a full meal or an afternoon coffee and homemade pastry, the focus is on good food shared in a beautiful setting.
In 2026, Michelin awarded the Auberge de Montpoupon a Recommended status, acknowledging the quality of this modern cuisine in its serene, forested setting. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner from Thursday to Monday, with outdoor seating, dedicated parking, and wheelchair accessibility.
