The story
On the heights of Muhlbach-sur-Munster, overlooking the village and the blue line of the Vosges, Perle des Vosges has been welcoming guests since 1936. What began as a nine-room hotel and restaurant by the Guthleben family has grown over decades into a full-service destination: modern rooms, the restaurant La Châtaigneraie, and a spa with pool, sauna and hammam called Ligne Bleue.
Today, the kitchen is run by chef Ernest Benz, who took over management in 2010. His cooking is modern cuisine rooted in the Alsatian landscape – fresh, local ingredients prepared with care. The restaurant describes its food as “cuisine faite maison,” made from scratch, reflecting a long-standing commitment to quality and authenticity. That commitment has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand, an award for good quality, good value cooking.
The setting is relaxed but refined. The dining room opens onto a green, wooded environment that changes with the seasons. In warmer months, outdoor seating lets you take in the view. The restaurant offers lunch and dinner, with a set lunch menu available, and can accommodate private parties in a private room.
Perle des Vosges also runs a catering service, bringing its cooking to your home or event. The kitchen is attentive to dietary needs, with gluten-free and healthy options on request.
The hotel itself has been eco-responsible for years, running on solar panels and favouring local suppliers. It’s a place that lets the landscape do the talking – whether you come for a hike, a bike ride, or simply a meal worth the drive into the Vosges.
