The story
At Maison Saint-Crescent in Narbonne, chef Lionel Giraud runs three distinct spaces under one roof. The Cave à Vin & à Manger is the most convivial of them: a wine bar and bistro where the focus is on generous, regional cooking and an exceptional cellar.
The chef’s philosophy is rooted in the Occitanie terroir. He spends his time sourcing exceptional local products, foraging for ingredients like trout, arctic char, and even bananas and passion fruit that thrive in the region. This is cooking that respects the land and the season, with a strong emphasis on zero waste and preservation through fermentation.
The Cave à Manger is described as a gathering place for friends and long tables. The menu leans into comforting, traditional dishes with a regional accent—think snacks, fried bites, and hearty plates that warm and reassure. A “cave menu” is available from Tuesday to Sunday lunch. The wine list is the real draw, with nearly 2,500 references available to drink on site or to take away.
