The story
Perched among 200 acres of vineyards, olive groves and woodland, Château Capitoul is a restored 19th-century estate that blends the intimacy of a boutique hotel with the space of self-catering villas. At its heart lies Méditerranéo, the property’s fine dining restaurant, where the cuisine reflects the sun-drenched Languedoc coast.
Housed within the original château, Méditerranéo offers a refined yet unhurried experience. The kitchen works with local produce, much of it from the estate’s own vegetable garden, to create dishes that are precise and ingredient-led. The dining room is elegant, with views across the vines and the lagoon beyond. In warmer months, outdoor seating lets guests dine under the Mediterranean sky.
The restaurant’s commitment to quality has earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026, a recognition that speaks to the consistency and care in every plate.
For a more casual mood, the estate also houses Asado, a bar and brasero restaurant in the former barrel room. Here, wood-fired grills and a lively terrace offer a different take on the same Mediterranean spirit. Both restaurants share the same philosophy: respect for the land, generous flavours, and a setting that feels both luxurious and natural.
The grounds themselves have been awarded a gold medal at the 2024 Victoires du Paysage, a national French competition for horticulture and landscape design. The gardens, the infinity pool overlooking the vineyards, and the quiet trails through the estate all contribute to the sense of escape that defines Château Capitoul.
Méditerranéo is more than a restaurant – it is an integral part of a destination built around the pleasures of the Mediterranean table.
