The story
On the southern coast of Finistère, in the village of Névez, Ar Men Du occupies a privileged spot overlooking the Pointe de Raguenez and the Glénan islands. The restaurant’s terrace, facing the sea, sets the scene for a meal that is both refined and rooted in place.
Since 2020, Ar Men Du has held a Michelin Green Star – a recognition of its daily commitment to eco-friendly practices. In 2026, it also earned a Michelin red star, confirming that sustainability and culinary excellence go hand in hand here.
Chef Jérôme Gourmelen leads a kitchen that works “close to the product,” as the restaurant puts it. Ingredients come from local suppliers in short circuits: fish and shellfish from Breton waters, meats from regional breeders, and vegetables from organic farms. The menus – starting at €69 – change with the seasons and according to daily arrivals. A lobster menu is offered when available.
The cooking is modern cuisine without unnecessary fuss, focused on letting the best products speak. “Without sophistication but full of original taste discoveries,” the team says. Every dish reflects a philosophy of gastronomie durable – sustainable gastronomy.
Pierre-Yves Roué, the owner, is a wine lover who has built a cellar of around 600 references, one of the most celebrated in Brittany. The selection prioritizes organic, biodynamic, and natural wines, chosen to complement the kitchen’s ethos. A food-and-wine pairing package (from €36 for three glasses) lets guests explore the cellar with guidance from the sommelier team.
Ar Men Du is also a three-star hotel, but the restaurant stands on its own as a destination. The atmosphere is intimate, the service attentive, and the setting – whether indoors with sea views or on the terrace – encourages lingering. It is a place where the values of respect for the land, the sea, and the people who work them are not just stated but tasted.
