The story
There is no restaurant sign on the street. To find Vincent Croizard, you push open the door of a private townhouse, as if arriving at a friend’s home for dinner. Inside, the space is both elegant and warm — a calm refuge just steps from the monuments of the old city.
Chef Vincent Croizard works with traditional techniques, letting the quality of local ingredients speak. His cooking is driven by curiosity: he favours unexpected combinations of flavour, spice and texture, always anchored in the produce of the Gard region. The menu changes monthly, and the kitchen sources 95% of its products locally, from organic and sustainably farmed suppliers. The bread is made in-house with regional organic flour.
The restaurant offers several ways to dine. At lunch from Thursday to Saturday, the “Saveurs d’Antan” menu (€42) revisits classic dishes like smoked trout and veal Marengo. The “Horizon” menu lets guests compose a meal of three or four courses from the carte. A separate vegetarian menu is also available, and younger diners have their own children’s menu. Wine pairings — with a focus on organic and biodynamic bottles — are suggested by Gisèle Croizard, who guides the dining room.
Vincent and Gisèle are supported by a small, passionate team. Their shared goal is to offer a pause that feels both local and generous — a “gastrolocale” break, as they call it. The recognition from the Michelin guide, which lists the restaurant as Recommended, reflects the consistency and sincerity of this approach.
