The story
At the corner of rue Pigalle and rue La Bruyère, BRU is a modern bistro that doesn't play by the usual rules. The restaurant’s name is short, and so is the menu—which changes regularly, because the kitchen believes adventure belongs at every meal.
The driving force is chef Mélanie Serre, who brings the flavors of her native Martinique into a Parisian kitchen focused on seasonal produce. She calls her cooking “tropico-franchouillarde”: a playful, confident blend of French bistro classics and the vibrant spices, fruits, and techniques of the Caribbean. The result is Creole-inflected modern cuisine that feels both grounded and unexpected.
Diners come for lunch or dinner, never knowing exactly what they’ll find on the plate—but trusting that it will be bright, precise, and personal. The style is relaxed, the atmosphere convivial, and the cooking has earned BRU a Michelin Bib Gourmand for good-quality, good-value food.
There are no pantoufles (slippers) here: the kitchen moves fast, the flavors travel far, and every visit feels like a small trip somewhere else.
